About Piedra Falls in Colorado
Piedra Falls has a unique chute waterfall with dark volcanic rock located an hour’s drive north of Pagosa Springs, CO in the southwest part of the state.
During the Spring, Summer, and Fall months; the waterfall will be at it’s best. The strong flow of water provides a decent pool for recreational swimming.
The current within the pool is strong, to get caught beneath the waterfall would be a dangerous and life threatening event. There is plenty of room to swim around and enjoy yourselves.
The waterfall is along a trail, which is an easy one-mile roundtrip, out-and-back on Piedra Falls Trail #671.
Piedra Falls from Pagosa Springs
Take Piedra Road to Forest Road 631 and turn right onto Taylor Lane, left on Forest Road 636, and right on Forest Road 637 / East Toner Road. Cross the bridge over the Middle Fork of Piedra River to reach the trailhead.
Piedra Falls is a partial day trip, and will leave extra time in you day for more activities. Consider visiting Treasure Falls aswell!
